Why It’s Worth Putting on Pants (Sometimes)
Cozypreneur Episode 16
Welcome to another cozy corner of the internet, friend! If you’re anything like me, staying in your comfiest sweats all day sounds like pure bliss. But today, we’re chatting about why it’s sometimes worth breaking out the real pants—and how this small shift can do wonders for your mental health and your business.
Let’s Talk About Pants Levels
Here’s the deal—pants aren’t just pants. They’re a system, and once you master the “levels,” you might just rethink your daily wardrobe:
House Pants: The MVPs of comfort. Think stained sweats and holey tees. Perfect for cozy work-from-home vibes but maybe not Target runs.
Errand Pants: Leggings, bike shorts, joggers—still comfy but socially acceptable for a quick trip to grab coffee or drop off the kids.
Doing-Stuff Pants: Yes, real pants are a thing! These are for work, events, and making a solid impression. Stretchy material and pockets highly recommended.
While house pants are life, swapping them out for errand or doing-stuff pants now and then can boost your mood and your business results.
Breaking the Comfort Trap
I’m a homebody to the core. Growing up, staying home was the norm, and I could happily spend days—maybe even weeks—snuggled under a blanket with a good book or Netflix. But here’s the thing: too much time at home can become a comfort trap, and that’s not great for your mental health.
For me, the first step to breaking the routine is as simple as putting on errand pants and stepping outside. And honestly? I’m always glad I did.
How Rover Keeps Me Sane (and Helps Me Pay My Bills)
One way I break out of my stay-at-home bubble is through Rover, a pet-sitting app that’s been a total sanity-saver. What started as a fun side hustle has become my go-to routine breaker—and it even helps my business.
Here’s why Rover works for me:
Stress-Free Extra Cash: No more panic when a client leaves. That extra Rover income takes the pressure off and gives me breathing room to find the right clients.
Built-in Fresh Air Breaks: Even on days I’d rather stay home, cute pets drag me outside. And spoiler alert: I always feel better afterward.
No Awkward Small Talk: Just me, the pets, and zero human interaction..
Honestly, I might stick with Rover even when I hit my big business goals. It’s flexible, rewarding, and a great way to sneak in some puppy snuggles.
Why In-Person Networking Matters
Now let’s talk real pants—because if there’s one thing they’re non-negotiable for, it’s in-person networking.
While I love the online space, nothing beats meeting local business owners face-to-face. These events help you build deeper connections, gain referrals, and strengthen your community. And once you start showing up regularly, they’re a lot less intimidating.
Do I always want to go? Not a chance. Do I feel better after I’ve gone? Absolutely.
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Whether it’s slipping on errand pants for a quick pet-sitting gig or donning real pants for a networking event, stepping outside your comfort zone can be a game-changer for both your mental health and your business.
So, what’s your pants level today? Slide into my DMs or drop a comment—I’d love to hear how you’re stepping out of your house pants and into new opportunities!
